Pygmy Slow Loris
(Nycticebus pygmaeus)
The Pygmy Slow Loris is found in areas from Thailand to Vietnam - endangered due to poaching. Ten animals were sent to Canada because of rescue programs carried out by the Kadoorie Botanical Gardens in Hong Kong, and the former Crystal Gardens in Victoria. One remains in OASES' care.
Solomon Island Skink
(Corucia zebrata)
These large lizards have prehensile tails, give birth to live young and are endangered throughout most of their range. We have two of families in our care. In 2005 they successfully raised young.
Pygmy Marmosets
(Callithrix pygmaea)
Smaller than a person's hand, this species is a member of the Tamarin family, an endangered group of monkeys from the rainforests of Brazil. There are two active breeding colonies in North America, one being in our care.
